Liam then delivers one of the biggest laughs of his set, making light of his body image. He confesses that his “man boobs kind of throw people off a little bit,” before offering a highly relatable observation: “There is no greater feel in life than getting home after a long day of work and just whipping off that bra. Am I right, ladies?” .
He pivots to talking about his day job, working as a plumber with his dad, who he says never trusts him on the job. Liam comically exaggerates his dad’s distrust, recounting that his father would go into “full detail of what a hammer is” if he asked him to get one from the van . He jokingly imagines his dad thinks he’d return in a “bright pink ball gown” and claim Madonna was there .
As a form of “secret revenge” against his argumentative father, Liam treats the building site like a “West End performance” . He acts out an exaggerated, musical-style confrontation about his dad chewing gum loudly, using a high-energy dance routine with a screw gun to deliver the line, “You pat that gum one more time… he had it coming!” .
Liam then tackles the topic of his weight-loss attempts with equally brilliant comedy. He jokes that he treats his body like the Catholic Church—full of “bread, wine, and the constant urge to worship a man in a loin cloth”, which lands as a massive punchline. He also notes he’s failing miserably at being an adult, constantly splitting his lips on Pringles cans .
The judges are unanimous in their praise, focusing on his authenticity and natural delivery. David Walliams declares, “I feel like we’re at the birth of something really special here,” praising how “authentic it was to you” . Liam Bannigan walks away with a resounding four “Yes” votes , securing his place in the competition as a fresh and uniquely funny voice.
